I know more than one activist who knits. A lot of us are true foodies. Coincidence? Maybe not.
A recent study published in the “The Journal of Positive Psychology” found that when people do creative tasks such as knitting or baking, it has a positive impact on their mood for days.
You read that right–you do something creative and it’s going to make you feel good not just that day but for the rest of that week!
I look at my own life, and there are creative outlets all over the place–I knit, I sew, I cook, I garden, I write. I’m a veritable whirlwind of creativity. Am I a master in any of these things? Not by a long shot. But it makes me feel good, and they give me energy to take on the world.
So feeling down? Pick up a paintbrush, a recipe book, or a set of knitting needles. It does a body good.
